On May 19th, I started my artist residency at the Totest Aleng: Indigenous Learning House where I will be each week until the end of August. During this time, I will be planning and implementing 4 public engagement sessions which includes open house, artist talks and artist painting demonstration as well as an end of residency closing art exhibition.
The canvases I create while in the studio will be the final installation of the water series I have been working on since 2024 and will focus on our Salish sea, its habitat including shellfish and marine life along the BC Coast and the impacts to First Nation communities along the coastline and bay areas who are not able to harvest traditional foods on the tidelands which they have done since time immemorial because of contamination, overharvest, land development and invasive species. These canvases along with the others in the "Water" series will be on display for the closing exhibition at the Totest Aleng: Indigenous Learning House pavilion on August 29th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
